Location
Judith A. Metcalf, APRN, BC, MS, FMGS joined the faculty in the School of Nursing and Population Health - Fall 2016 and is the Coordinator of the new HRSA grant-funded program Upstream Practicum in Nursing Program. She also continues as the Director, ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Maine Geriatric Education Center a position held since December 2003. Judy has her Bachelor's in Nursing from Salem State College Salem, Massachusetts, her Master's from Boston University Boston, Massachusetts, and her Post-Master's Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification in Primary Health Care Nursing from Simmons College Boston, Massachusetts. As an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Judy was part of the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Mature Care Practice, providing primary care to older adults in residential, assisted living, rehabilitation and long term care settings.
Prior to joining the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ she was on the faculty of the University of New Hampshire where she taught nursing students, both undergraduate adult health and graduate nurse practitioner students in the Adult Health Program. She has held a faculty position in Utah at Weber State College. In addition, she has practiced as a Clinical Nurse Leader in neurology/neurosurgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, Massachusetts and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in neurology/neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Philadelphia, PA.
Ms. Metcalf serves on several boards and committees. She holds membership in several organizations including the National Association of Geriatric Education (NAGE), American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and the Gerontological Society of America (GSA). She is a Fellow of the Maine Gerontological Society (MGS) and is current President of the statewide affiliate of the American Geriatrics Society, Dirigo Maine Geriatrics Society (DGS).
