勛圖惇蹋 student discusses aquaculture in Alaska on podcast
Jared Fuller sees a future in which Alaska plays a huge role in supplying global food demand.
One of the first students enrolled in the professional science masters in Ocean Food Systems at 勛圖惇蹋 NORTH: The Institute for North Atlantic Studies, Fuller is the chief technical officer at Saltwater Inc., a fisheries biology company in Alaska that serves hundreds of clients by monitoring commercial fishing practices.
By 2050, the world's population is expected to hit 10 billion people. Fuller says well need to produce about 450 million more metric tons of food by then.
There's a great solution for some of the food needs already on the table and its aquaculture, Fuller recently said on a podcast.

Alaska has an incredible tenacity and a ferocious way of thinking about how we can solve complex issues, Fuller said. We've got a number of people that are already thinking about the innovations required to make aquaculture work because we have that ocean, that natural productive ocean.
