When Sarah Titcomb is not in a classroom in Decary Hall she's getting hands-on learning at Scarborough Terrace

吃瓜爆料 senior Sarah Titcomb (HWOS, 鈥18) spends two days a week with residents of Scarborough Terrace, an assisted living facility for older adults.

鈥淚t's so much fun,鈥 Titcomb says. 鈥淭he residents are a riot. They're all so different, with their own personalities.鈥

Her internship at the facility was recently featured in a news report on .

Titcomb spends most of her time there engaged in activities with the residents -- everything from playing the piano to friendly games of bean bag toss.

鈥淚n school we've learned so much about social participation and how important it is for wellness in older adults,鈥 she explains. 鈥淭aking what I鈥檝e learned and incorporating it into what I do at Scarborough Terrace has just been super beneficial.鈥

It鈥檚 clear from the reaction of residents that Sarah鈥檚 efforts are greatly appreciated.

鈥淲e really enjoy her,鈥 one resident told WCSH. 鈥淪he鈥檚 a delightful person.鈥

Titcomb is planning for a career in occupational therapy after she graduates this year. She says the experience gained through the internship will be an asset to her professionally.

鈥淭o be able to actually get hands on experience within this population has been helpful all around,鈥 she states.
