³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ faculty member lends expertise to Motorsport Safety Group Advisory Board
The Motorsports Safety Group (MSG) recently announced that Lara Carlson, D.P.E., FACSM, CSCS, associate professor in the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Department of Physical Therapy and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences, has joined its Advisory Board.
The MSG is an organization focused on the promotion of preventative care, treatment and education for racecar drivers and their teams within the motorsports industry. The MSG was founded by one of the leading physicians in the world for neurosurgery, Jason Cormier, M.D., FAANS. As a neurosurgeon, Cormier understands the consequences of traumatic brain injury caused by external forces, especially those resulting from a car crash. Carlson’s pioneering work on the physiological and thermoregulatory responses, as well as the hydration status of drivers during racing, are an important contribution to racing performance and safety.
