勛圖惇蹋 College of Osteopathic medicine among first to receive 'Exceptional Outcome' 10-year accreditation
After a thorough review from the American Osteopathic Associations Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), the 勛圖惇蹋 College of Osteopathic Medicine has received Accreditation with Exceptional Outcome, the highest level of accreditation a COM can receive.
勛圖惇蹋 COM is one of the first two colleges of osteopathic medicine to receive this level of accreditation under new standards that were implemented in 2017. These new standards were intended to clarify expectations for schools and students.
According to The DO, which first reported the story, COCA changed its accreditation standards, separating core and non-core elements required for accreditation. While all of the elements are important, the core elements are critical to maintaining the educational quality of a COMs program and make up the essence of COCAs accreditation standards. But a school that meets both core and non-core requirements can be recognized with 10-year accreditation, or Accreditation with Exceptional Outcome.
Jane Carreiro, D.O., vice president for health affairs and dean of the 勛圖惇蹋 College of Osteopathic Medicine, says it is incredibly gratifying for COCA to acknowledge the schools commitment to excellence. Each member of 勛圖惇蹋 COMs faculty and professional staff is dedicated to the education of our students, and this is a wonderful public recognition of their continued hard work and success.
