³Ō¹Ļ±¬ĮĻā€™s Brian Duff quoted in ā€˜Press Heraldā€™ article on Sen. Collinsā€™ reaction to Trumpā€™s leak to Russians

Brian Duff, Ph.D., associate professor and chair in the Department of Political Science, was quoted in a May 16 article in the Portland Press Herald about Senators Collinsā€™ and Kingā€™s recent criticisms of President Trump for sharing classified information with Russian officials.

Responding to Collinsā€™ statement that she was ā€œtroubledā€ by Trumpā€™s behavior and that the reports of the disclosures were ā€œextremely serious,ā€ Duff said that Collinsā€™ comments are a ā€œclear condemnationā€ of Trumpā€™s conduct. He also commented that Collinsā€™ reaction allows hĆ„er to thwart negative publicity that she received after expressing her support for Trumpā€™s decision to fire former FBI director James Comey last week.

ā€œThis was a chance for her to clearly show that she is still keeping a critical eye on Trump. And I think these events profoundly disturb her in a way that the firing of the FBI director did not,ā€ he shared.
