³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ student artwork on display in the Campus Center
An exhibition of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ student artwork is currently on display in the Campus Center. The works comprise still life paintings of flowers and fruit, as well as drawings of imaginary animal hybrid creatures.
The full color, acrylic paintings were created by students of Sarah Gorham, M.F.A., MAT, associate lecturer in the Department of Creative and Fine Arts. Prior to creating their works, the Painting 1 students studied the process of preparing the surface of their stretched canvas with a detailed grisaille under-painting to establish composition, tone and volume. Participating students included Avery Alberghini, Lacey Durkee, Laciann Gilblair, Angela Keating, Liz Lydon, Dan Nguyen, Sammie Powers, Amy Oleksyk, John Reinbott, Amelia Rivette, Morgan Rodway, Victoria Sanchez, Leah Soloway, Emily Squier and Brittany Toscano.
Art 100-Drawing 1 students of Stephen Burt, M.F.A., associate professor and chair in the Department of Creative and Fine Arts, designed fanciful animal hybrid creations. Over the course of the semester, they investigated multiple modes of drawing to express different concepts and ideas. Their drawings are presented in the style of a scientific illustration, using contour and cross-contour lines, and highlighting the unique anatomical features of each creature. Students in Burt’s class included Sarah Libby, Alivia Morton, Kady Windsor, Kyra Hunsicker, Lian Harrington, Caitlin Dewitt, Stephanie Ostrowski, Christian Eldridge and Tori Denis.
