³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Art Gallery features rich sampling of permanent photography collection at Innovation Hall

While the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Art Gallery on the Portland Campus is closed for renovation this summer, the University is offering a photo exhibition through September 4 in Innovation Hall (772 Stevens Avenue, Portland), formerly known as the Stevens Avenue Armory, in the first floor Pre-Function Room. Black & White & Color: Selections from the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Permanent Photography Collection represents the breadth of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s permanent collection of photography, with one photograph each from some 50 photographers. 

Not only are there works by renowned photographers such as Eugene Atget, Berenice Abbott, Lotte Jacobi, Danny Lyon, Lisette Model, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ernest C. Withers, E.O. Goldbeck and Todd Webb, but there are also works by many of the best photographers working today: Jon Edwards, Dan Dow, Diane Hudson, Ruth Sylmor, Judy Ellis Glickman, Melonie Bennett, Barbara Goodbody, Marta Morse, Larry Hayden, Jack Montgomery, Jan Pieter van Voorst van Beest, Tillman Crane, Denise Froehlich, John Eide, Claire Seidl, Nanci Kahn, Brenton Hamilton, Arthur Fink, David Wade, Robert Pennington, Chuck Feil, John Kelley, Jane Gilbert, Susan Mills, Juris Ubans, C.C. Church, Andy Ford, Carson Graves and Jeffrey Becton. 

Also included are works by the late artists Stuart Nudelman, Victor Romanyshyn, Mason Smith, Ed Richardson, Verner Reed, Fred Canter, Isabel Lewando and Joe Guertin.

Innovation Hall is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, free of charge, and closed over the weekends.  For more information or to schedule a viewing outside of regular hours, call 221-4499 or 221-4449 to make an appointment.
