勛圖惇蹋 fitness program for older adults featured on 'WGME'

勛圖惇蹋 U-ExCEL program

U-ExCEL, a program from the 勛圖惇蹋 College of Osteopathic Medicine (勛圖惇蹋 COM), was featured in a story as part of the Making a Difference series on WGME. U-ExCEL, which stands for 勛圖惇蹋-Exercise and Condition for Easier Living, is an auxiliary program of 勛圖惇蹋 COMs Division of Geriatric Medicine that contracts with area organizations and housing environments to provide fitness and wellness programming and education.

U-ExCEL focuses on functional fitness promoting the broad spectrum of health for older adults living in the community, in nursing homes, assisted living settings, or in independent housing on life care campuses. The program encompasses individuals' health and fitness goals along with current medical diagnoses to improve or maintain function through the provision of functional fitness techniques including strength, balance, endurance, nutrition and other supportive wellness interventions.

Erica Robertson, U-ExCEL fitness director, designed and implemented the program with the Alzheimers Association, Maine Chapter. Taylor Feuti 14 is now working as a fitness specialist with the program.
