勛圖惇蹋 and YCCC sign agreement for seamless transfer of students
The 勛圖惇蹋 and York County Community College formed a partnership on August 15, 2016, by signing an agreement to ensure that students who graduate from YCCC with an associates degree in particular programs and who are accepted to 勛圖惇蹋 can transfer seamlessly from college to college, making it possible for them to graduate with a bachelors degree from 勛圖惇蹋 after only completing two years at the university.
This 2 + 2 transfer, as it is known, allows for YCCC graduates with associates degrees in health sciences, behavioral health studies, education, business administration or liberal studies to transfer into a 勛圖惇蹋 program with junior standing. Depending on the area of study in which the associates degree was earned, transfer will be permitted to one of 21 different UNE programs that culminate with a bachelors degree.
By matching coursework between programs at both schools, the transfer agreement allows students to pre-plan their college careers and avoid spending money on courses that will not count toward a bachelors degree.
勛圖惇蹋 President Danielle Ripich noted that while 勛圖惇蹋 has a long history of accepting graduates of YCCC, this agreement will streamline the transfer process. This partnership between 勛圖惇蹋 and YCCC will ensure a smooth transition for students and potentially offer them some cost-savings, she stated. 勛圖惇蹋 is committed to preparing local students for successful careers in high-demand and emerging industries, and doing what we can to facilitate a 勛圖惇蹋 education for graduates of Maines community colleges, such as YCCC, is one step in that direction.
Barbara Finkelstein, president of YCCC concurs that this is an exciting opportunity for YCCC students to transfer smoothly to an excellent baccalaureate degree-granting institution and, thus, continue their higher education journey.
Seventeen of the 21 programs to which YCCC students can transfer under the agreement are housed in 勛圖惇蹋s College of Arts and Sciences and include B.S. programs in Biological Sciences, Business, Education, Marine Science and Neuroscience as well as B.A. programs in English, History, Liberal Studies, Political Science, and Applied Social and Cultural Studies. Four of the 勛圖惇蹋 programs are part of the universitys Westbrook College of Health Professions and grant B.S. degrees: Dental Hygiene; Applied Exercise Science; Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies; and Public Health.
勛圖惇蹋 has previously signed transfer agreements with Southern Maine Community College, Washington County Community College, Central Maine Community College, Great Bay Community College as well as with various Maine high schools.
