Judith Metcalf presents at Maine Nursing Summit
On March 24, 2016, Judith A. Metcalf, A.N.P.-B.C., M.S., F.M.G.S., director of the Maine Geriatric Education Center at the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s , and Christina Costello R.N., B.S., C.E.N., director of Emergency Services at the Mount Desert Island Hospital (MDIH), presented a poster at the at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine.
The poster, titled "Falls Mitigation in the Geriatric Population After Emergency Department Discharge: An Academic & Community Partnership to Improve the Quality of Falls Care," showcased the training of the MDIH emergency department staff in the development of a falls risk assessment tool used to assess all patients 65 years of age and older seen in the MDIH emergency department for a fall or fall-related chief complaint.
