Dora Mills addresses medical error prevention on WCSH鈥檚 "207"
Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, 吃瓜爆料鈥檚 vice president for clinical Affairs and director of the Center for Health Innovation, discussed ways to prevent medical errors on 鈥207,鈥 a news magazine program on WCSH.
Recent data shows that medical errors in hospitals are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer. As Mills noted, one cause of medical errors stems from communication and collaboration gaps between medical professionals. At UNE, she conducts interprofessional training for healthcare students, teaching them how to work together as a team on campus and in clinical sites.
Mills also provided advice for patients in the hospital, recommending that they have an advocate, keep a journal of all information and wash hands frequently.
