Sharon McDonnell returns to Africa to combat Ebola
Sharon McDonnell, R.N., M.D., M.P.H., an adjunct faculty member in the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Master of Public Health program will return to Monrovia, Liberia in January 2016 to work with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists on the Ebola Response Project. She will be assisting the CDC to address the recurring Ebola outbreak and set up sentinel surveillance systems.
McDonnell has been to Africa close to a dozen times in her career as a doctor, public health professional, epidemiologist and university professor. During her most recent to Liberia in the winter of 2014-2015, she worked with the International Rescue Committee to assist in the management of the Ebola epidemic.
