Paintings of rescue dogs by Rachel Michaud on display at Campus Center
A collection of paintings of rescue dogs by Rachel Michaud will be on display at the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Biddeford Campus Center from June 4 through July 2, 2015.
A graphic designer by trade, Michaud is the volunteer web master of the Pixel Fund, a non-profit organization in Maine dedicated to saving the lives of shelter pets through education, advocacy, rescue efforts and participation in community events.
Michaud began painting five years ago and believes that her paintings of rescue dogs give the animals a voice. "My goal with this show was to create a cohesive body of work that would serve a purpose beyond the visual experience," she explained. "By telling these stories, I hope that more people will choose to adopt a dog rather than purchase from a store or breeder and recognize that all of the unwanted dogs in this country have value and a story."
Dogs will be available for adoption at the exhibit's opening on June 5, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
