College of Pharmacy recognizes exemplary faculty and students at award ceremony
The College of Pharmacy was pleased to host a special awards and honors ceremony on April 30, honoring faculty and students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, community service and excellence.
17 students received awards recognizing scholar, academic excellence, student leadership and community service. More than $34,500 in scholarship money was distributed to 22 students thanks to the following donors:

- Dr. Douglas H. and Dorothy B. Kay
- Hannaford
- Gayle and Daniel Brazeau
- Rite Aid
- Walgreens
- The Betterment Fund
- The Women’s Board of Maine General Hospital
Four faculty members received awards including Teachers of the Year, Preceptor of the Year and Mentor of the Year. Four staff members were honored for excellence and service appreciation.
The keynote speaker for the event was Amelia Arnold, pharmacist and manager of Clincal and Retail Operations for Community Pharmacies, a ten-pharmacy chain in the state of Maine. Arnold has been extensively involved in advocacy for pharmacy-related issues in Maine, is a member of the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ School of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council, serves as a preceptor for Community Pharmacy Elective APPE rotations for the University of Connecticut and ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ, and was named 2012 New Practitioner of the Year by the Maine Pharmacy Association.
