Artwork by David Preston Wells on exhibit at UNE Campus Center
Artist David Preston Wells will present his work in the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Campus Center Gallery space located on the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Biddeford Campus from October 1 to November 1, 2012.
Wells earned a bachelor of fine arts in painting and printmaking from The State University of New York at Potsdam and an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is an accomplished, active exhibiting visual artist, whose work is abstract in nature and intensely gestural, depicting a vivid equilibrium of color, composition and movement.
In some of his most recent works, movement is masked by apparent stillness, as if replaced by the calm of carefully traced line segments of many colors. His works tell stories through color or black and white and suggest episodes whose meaning is left to the individual interpretation of the viewer through his/her own subjective experiences.
Wells has participated in many exhibits in the United States and abroad, and his works are well represented in both private and public collections. He currently lives and works between New Hampshire and Sardinal, Costa Rica.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble at dbmn27@maine.rr.com.
