³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ and Sodexo organize food drive to stop hunger
³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ has invited the community to help ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ and Sodexo Food Services make a difference for thousands desperately in need of nutritious food, as well as set a new Guinness World Record.
Sodexo continues its mission of giving back to the community by hosting the Helping Hands Across America event. Volunteers are still needed for this event on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Decary Dining Hall on ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's Biddeford Campus.
The Helping Hands Food Drive will take place at the Shaw's Supermarkets in Biddeford and Saco and the Saco Train Station on October 22 and 23, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Sodexo food drive is part of a nationwide STOP HUNGER initiative. Last year, with the community's help, ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ raised 26,000 pounds of food last year.
This target enabled ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ to distribute food to each of the following pantries: Stone Soup in Biddeford, Saco Food Pantry, Kennebunk Social Services, Dayton/Lyman Food Pantry, York County Shelter and Bon Appetit.
This year, Sodexo aims to beat the Guinness World Record for the greatest amount of food collected in a 24-hour period by a non-charitable organization. The goal this year is to reach 30,000 pounds of food to donate this coming holiday.
