³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ prominent in Maine Sunday Telegram story on health care reform

Regional media covering healthcare reform continue to take note of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's leadership role in healthcare education. A on March 28, 2010 featured photos of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ College of Osteopathic Medicine students and faculty on the front page and focused heavily on an interview with COM Dean Marc Hahn. Hahn noted that the state has a current shortage of 100 primary care physicians and that expanded access to health care will tighten that shortage. Hahn explained that UNECOM has been at the forefront of addressing these problems. Fifteen percent of Maine's primary care doctors, and 25 percent of those practicing in rural Maine, are ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ graduates. ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏCOM is now planning to expand both faculty size and classroom space in order to increase the class size from 124 to 225 within five years. The Telegram story was picked up by the Associated Press. ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ was also featured in earlier stories on NECN and WGME TV.
