James Sulikowski's dogfish research featured on WGME's Doug's Discovery
Research by James Sulikowski, Ph.D.,³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ associate professor of marine sciences, on spiny dogfish was highlighted July 14, 2010 on WGME13 TV by news anchor Doug Rafferty on his weekly feature Rafferty, who has been following Sulikowski's research for two years, explained that the research is addressing the question of whether populations of spiny dogfish have recovered to the point that they are threatening commercial groundfish, which the dogfish consume. The story also highlighted the 2010 Top Dog Educational Tag Release Tournament which runs July 16-17th. This goal of the tag and release tournament is to gather more data on dogfish populations and bring a greater awareness to the general public of the potential threats of a large dogfish population to both the local ecosystem, and the fishing communities.
