College of Pharmacy's immunization training program garners media attention
A news story on Oct. 2, 2009 focused on a new state law that allows pharmacists to give flu shots and other immunizations. ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's new College of Pharmacy is now offering training for pharmacists to meet the certification requirements of the Board of Pharmacy for the immunizations. Kenneth McCall, associate professor and chair of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's Department of Pharmacy Practice, said the law will help Maine reach its goal of a 90 percent flu vaccination rate among the elderly by 2010.
