2nd Annual Nutrition Symposium

9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Harold Alfond Forum 283
Biddeford Campus

Free and open to the public

This year's theme is "Sustainable Food Systems" and ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ is well-positioned to address this topic with its adjacency to the ocean. As populations grow, exploring alternative ways for cultivating food sources remains of utmost importance.  Ranked as the fastest growing area of food production, aquaculture proves a more promising solution for food system sustainability.  With over 3,000 miles of ocean coastline, ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's location provides direct access to researching this as a solution.  At this year's symposium, we will uncover the possibilities for ocean food systems and the processes behind aquaculture and why many consider these as key food sources for the future.

The Nutrition Symposium will include a plant-based bag lunch (free for the first 50 in-person registrants) in which all of the ingredients are locally-sourced.  The afternoon will feature a plant-based food demonstration by Sodexo chef, Jason Grant, and input from ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ students on plant-based diets followed by a tour of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ's Living Wall in the Commons.
